Beautiful Malawi and more fun with the family

We spent a couple of days at Majete with my brother Dan (and Merin, Jack 8 and Ellie 5).

Majete was beautiful, with the green vegetation and the awesome Shire river. We saw Elephant and Giraffe but mostly it was just fun for the kids to play together, sit out the windows and play wolfie wolfie at the hides. Quality time is always special.

We had a lovely outing to a little restaurant in Thyolo. The drive reminded me of our wedding day 9 years ago. The Tea estates are so beautiful, and we had delicious home made ice cream.

New years eve with the Barrett clan is guaranteed fun! We had a Mongolian stir fry and laughed til our tummy's hurt playing minute to win it. We danced, we chatted and we watched the 5 fireworks that went off around the neighbourhood before ending the year by jumping into the pool at midnight.

Its always sad to say goodbye to family. This holiday was extra special for me. It was the first time we've been to Malawi as a family of 4, and the first time in a long time that I've spent an extended period of time with my parents and 3 siblings all in one place. I'm not sure exactly how we have managed to stay one step ahead of covid, but I am extremely grateful that we got to have this special time together.
