In the groove! ~ Kariba ~

The weeks are starting to go by quickly and we have definitely found our groove in this place that is very special. LJ has settled into school amazingly well. He really loves it and has learnt so much in just 3 weeks. He said it's "no fair that he has to have holidays." He has graduated ECDB and will be starting grade 1 in January!

He has a very special bond with Rowena who is 8. She was his first friend in Kariba and has completely stolen our hearts with her sweet and loving nature. Plus, she is the first friend he has had that loves hugs as much as he does.

We went on another business trip to Harare...Our car has still not arrived but the work containers have, so we had to make a plan to get a bigger rental car in order to bring our things back to Kariba. It felt like Christmas had come early!

We managed another lovely trip out to Bromley to visit Pod and Jords, and once again were spoilt with their delicious home grown produce! The kids went strawberry and raspberry picking, we picked fresh asparagus, tender gem squash, marrows, lettuce and cucumber. We decided to have a family camp out...but when the rain hit, the adults quickly back tracked. The kids didn't back down though, and ended up sleeping in their tents all night! Tim fell asleep with Louie so he also camped.

The kids have been thrilled to have their bikes at last! And just in time for the holidays. We have also had some amazing rain storms and the weather has cooled down by a few degrees. It is more humid now, but I choose being hot over being cold any day.

We had a craft morning and made salt dough nativity sets. After we had baked the salt dough, I left it outside to cool down and before we had got around to painting it, a baboon came and took a bite out of Mary and made off with one of the wise men! We had a good laugh and then made up some more dough for round 2. There is lots of time for us to enjoy the simple things here.

We are winding down for the year now and starting to plan our trip to Malawi for Christmas. We certainly have a lot of blessings to count this year, despite all the covid craziness.

  1. I'm not sure the words, "a baboon came and took a bite out of Mary and made off with one of the wise men" have ever been said! So funny
