Gaining momentum....First day of school, first time on the lake, first run outside the electric fence.
Its been a good week of firsts for us. LJ started school at a lovely little school here that has fewer than 100 kids, between the ages of 3 and 16. He enjoys the interaction with other kids who match his energy and enthusiasm. There is just something so cute about a kid in a uniform.
Having LJ at school has given Lily and me some lovely time to enjoy the small things at a slower pace. She loves finding bugs and chongololos.
All the trees are just so beautiful here and the contrast of colours is just stunning. Makes me think of the lyrics:
"Everytime I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf or see the sky
Then I know why I believe"
Its mango season and there is no shortage of mango trees around!
I finally managed to meet the fellow runners of Kariba, and braved the wild outdoors for the first time. Such a freeing feeling. What I love about Kariba is the way the local people make me feel safe. It is a feeling that I had forgotten. In SA I've always felt vulnerable while running...(unless in a group or with Caroline and 7 dogs!) I don't mind being afraid of wild animals, we are cautious and choose routes that have a lot of foot traffic. Its refreshing to feel safe and respected as a woman.
We had a lovely weekend too. The boys spent the day building and playing with LJ's lego, Lil chilled in the partly installed jacuzzi.
Can you spot LJ in the picture above...
LJ in his happy place...on a boat, on the water. This Catamaran was just lovely, there was a nice breeze and it's so lovely to be able to chat without a noisy motor (except for the last few hundred meters).
This sailing is tiring work! Tim took Lily down to nap but she put him to sleep and then came back up....until she eventually crashed and had a lovely nap above deck.

That pic of lily in the rain is pure joy! Absolutely love it. Louie us looking so grown up and too handsome.l, especially on the boat. Yay for the running in the wild...not sure I would feel safer with lions than with SA predators but we'll have to agree to disagree on that one 🤣. Love you guys. X
ReplyDeleteThis adventure just keeps getting better and better! Enjoy the mangos and think of us paying $5 each for them over here at the moment.
